Off Grid

An off grid solar system is one that has no access to grid power at all.
It relies on PV solar and batteries to provide for all power requirements.
In some cases it may be combined with a wind generator, a hydroelectric system or other form of alternative energy source.
A diesel generator my also be used for back-up in certain applications.

Any application where there is no grid power available or where and alternative to grid power is preferred.

Grid Tie

A grid Tie solar system is one that converts solar electricity directly to AC power and feeds it to your load in parallel with Grid power
The aim is that you use all of this power directly but excess can be fed back to the grid in some metros.

– Large, medium or small businesses which consume power (entirely or partially) during daylight hours
– Households with a relatively large daylight hours consumption pattern

-Cheaper than a conventional off grid system as there is no battery required
-Can result in significant cost savings through reduction in Eskom usage

Battery Back-Up

A Battery back up system is a battery and inverter system designed to supply power to specific circuits in times of power outages
Similar to a UPS but usually with more capacity

Any application where power outages affect business operations, or day to day life

-Large medium or small businesses wanting to maintain operations (partial or total) during power outages
-Households wanting power during power outages

-Have longer run times than most UPS ‘s

A Hybrid system is a combination of a Grid tie system and a Battery back-up system.
